August 4th, 2006 Where America finds its voice. Alabama.Alabama State Bureau of Tourism and Travel released artwork for billboards that will be displayed around the State featuring the singers from Alabama who became nationally known on American Idol.
The Alabama State Bureau of Tourism and Travel isn't missing any beats when it comes to promoting Alabama with American Idol winners Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard and finalist Bo Bice.
The state agency released artwork for billboards that will be displayed around the State featuring the singers from Alabama who became nationally known on American Idol, the Fox Television networks talent competition. The billboards show photos of all three with the headline, "Where America finds its voice. Alabama."
The state tourism director Lee Sentell said that six billboards will be displayed for a 4-month period in state, and then be moved out of state to promote local tourism in Alabama.
The billboards will go up in advance of the August 21 American Idol auditions that will be held in Birmingham on Monday August 21, 2006. This marks the first time the show will hold auditions in Birmingham 10,000 to 15,000 people are expected to try out for next seasons show.
